This bootcamp offers practical, industry-proven techniques and best practices designed to help estimators improve their bidding process and win more work. Participants will explore key topics such as interpreting construction documents, identifying work scopes, pre-qualifying trade partners, performing quantity take-offs, pricing strategies, bid tabulations, estimating general conditions, and calculating indirect costs.
Session Learner Objectives:
Identify the Qualities of a Good Estimator
Learners will understand the key traits and skills required to become an effective estimator, including accuracy, attention to detail, and strong analytical capabilities.
Apply Productivity Best Practices to Enhance Bidding Success
Learners will understand how to implement productivity strategies that optimize efficiency and competitiveness in the bidding process, enabling them to secure more projects.
Analyzing Construction Documents to Identify Scopes of Work
Develop the ability to thoroughly review, visualize, and interpret construction documents to ensure that scopes of work are identified. This process minimizes the opportunity to miss scopes of work that could lead to losing money.
Understand the Prequalification Process and Invitations to Bid
Gain insight into the process of prequalifying contractors, sending out invitations to bid, and matching scopes to the most suitable trades. This process leads to securing more work for the right price.
Perform Quantity Take-offs for Self-performance or Subcontractor Scope Verification
Acquire skills to conduct accurate quantity take-offs for both self-performed and subcontractor scopes of work, ensuring completeness and cost accuracy.
Utilize Bid Tabs and Leveling Sheets for Scope Pricing Accuracy
Understand how to use bid tabs or leveling sheets to compare and analyze bids, ensuring that the right cost is assigned to the correct scope of work.
Estimate General Conditions and Indirect Costs Effectively
Learners will gain an understanding of how to estimate general conditions and indirect costs, contributing to a more comprehensive and accurate overall project estimate.
Engaging Hands-on Activities:
Scenario Based Work Sessions are utilized so each learner can practice the techniques and best practices covered in the Estimating Boot Camp. Scenarios will include work sessions for visualizing and interpreting construction documents, scope identification processes, self-performance quantity take-offs, bid tabulation exercises, and indirect costs including bond cost calculations.
Learner Assessment and Application:
In addition to Scenario Based Work Sessions, learners will have access to downloadable worksheets, checklists, videos, and other valuable resources necessary to support their construction careers. Resources are accessed through Construction Mastery Institute’s Learning Management System for a period of one (1) year for all Boot Camp attendees. This allows learners to re-visit content discussed in the Bootcamp for easy on-the-job application.Estimating Bootcamp - January 18 - In...Date and Time
